
The longest and the most famous railway journey in the world, the Trans-Siberian Railway traverses the whole expanse of Russia from Europe to the Orient. Few other journeys enable the passenger to relax so completely during their course, and to become lost in the rhythm of the journey as time zones and the urgency to arrive both become meaningless.
Day 1 : Kazakhstan
Arrival at Almaty airport. City tour. This evening after returning to the Golden Eagle.
Day 2 : Uzbekistan
Arrival in Tashkent after lunch. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 3 : Uzbekistan
Visit some of its most significant sites of Samarkand. After dinner we will visit the illuminated and awe inspiring Registan Square before returning to our train for a late evening departure.
Day 4 : Uzbekistan
Bukhara is quite simply outstanding. UNESCO backed the renovation of much of the city. Then we ll travel out of the city.
Day 5 : Uzbekistan
Transfer to Khiva a World Heritage Site, it lies at the crossroads of the routes between Mongolia, Russia, China and Persia. A truly magnificent sight to behold, it rises out of the desert to reveal a wealth of impressive architecture. Stepping back in time, we discover its impressive mosques, bazaars and minarets within Khiva’s ancient walls.
Day 6 : Turkmenistan
Arrive in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan - the Las Vegas of the Kara Kum - its fountains, golden domes and towering modern buildings appear strangely incongruous in this desert setting.
Day 7 : Turkmenbashi
Arrival at the port. Overnight at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Baku.
Day 8 : Azerbaijan
City tour. Back to the train in the evening.
Day 9 : Georgia
Tbilisi visit.
Day 10 : Kutaisi
City tour.
Day 11 : Gori, Uplistsikhe, Mtskheta
Visit and lunch barbecue on the banks of the Mtkvari river with traditional music.
Late afternoon we will visit the town of Mtskheta.
Day 12 : Yerevan
City tour and transfer to the hotel.
Day 13 : Yerevan
Departure after breakfast.
