Day 1 : Moscow
Arrival at Moscow airport. Transfer to the hotel located in the heart of the city for two nights. In the evening a welcome dinner.
Day 2 : Moscow
City tour and museums.
Day 3 : Onboard
Board the Golden Eagle Trans Siberian Express. Here begins the journey to Beijing.
Day 4 : Volgograd
Standing on the banks of the Volga, Stalingrad, was the dramatic scene of one of the most important World War II battles. Visit the poignantly sobering Mamayev Kurgan war memorial. Dinner on the train.
Day 5 : Kara Kum desert, Kazakhstan
Relaxing day onboard as we travel across the vast expanses of the Kara Kum desert.
Day 6 : Uzbekistan
Transfer to Khiva a World Heritage Site, it lies at the crossroads of the routes between Mongolia, Russia, China and Persia. A truly magnificent sight to behold, it rises out of the desert to reveal a wealth of impressive architecture. Stepping back in time, we discover its impressive mosques, bazaars and minarets within Khiva’s ancient walls.
Day 7 : Turkmenistan
Arrive in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan - the Las Vegas of the Kara Kum - its fountains, golden domes and towering modern buildings appear strangely incongruous in this desert setting.
Day 8 : Turkmenistan
Fascinating exploration of the ancient city Merv. Return to our train for dinner.
Day 9 : Uzbekistan
Bukhara is quite simply outstanding. UNESCO backed the renovation of much of the city. Then we ll travel out of the city.
Day 10 : Uzbekistan
Visit some of its most significant sites of Samarkand. After dinner we will visit the illuminated and awe inspiring Registan Square before returning to our train for a late evening departure.
Day 11 : Uzbekistan
Arrival in the capital of Uzbekistan. Morning visit before going on the train for a relaxing afternoon.
Day 12 : Kazakhstan
we arrive in Almaty – the largest city in Kazakhstan - just before lunch. We ll enjoy a traditional lunch. Tonight is our final evening onboard the Golden Eagle and will be marked by a farewell banquet.
Day 13 : Passage to China
Transferred to the Shangri-La Express. A welcome dinner is served in the restaurant cars, giving us our first taste of authentic Chinese cuisine.
Day 14 : Urumchi & Turpan
Visit the exhibition at the Museum mummy provincial renown in the morning. After lunch we travel to Turpan, or flaming mountains of creating a beautiful setting. We then take a fascinating tour of the underground irrigation system that fed the old succes rich orchards and vineyards for centuries.
Day 15 : Dunhuang
Arrive before lunch in the small oasis city of Dunhuang, where we visit the fascinating cave complex Magao Thousand Buddha. In the after-noon, we explore the vast natural beauty of the Gobi Desert by camel. The evening did the experience of a dinner - local folklore show in this magical setting.
Day 16 : Jiayuguan
Arrival in Jiayuguan in the morning. Visit the museum and the fortress of the Great Wall of China.
Day 17 : Xian
Morning arrival in Xian. Visit the Terracotta Warriors and the Han Yangling Museum. In the evening dinner, music and dance show.
Day 18 : Beijing
Transfer to the hotel for three night stay.
Day 19 : Beijing
City Tour.
Day 20 : Beijing
Visit day to the Great Wall of China. Farewell banquet is hosted in an authentic Peking Duck restaurant.
Day 21 : Beijing
Departure after breakfast.
