Day 1 : Bangkok
Depart Bangkok in the afternoon. Tea will be served in your cabin while the train makes its way through the Thai country. For dinner discover one of our Restaurant Cars. Enjoy a late drink while listening to the piano-bar playing. Meanwhile, your steward would have prepared your cabin into a cosy bedroom for the night.
Day 2 : Chiang Mai
After breakfast the train arrives in Chiang Mai. You can choose from a three offered excursions:
• A visit to Chiang Mai for a discovery of the 700 year old historic city and its ancient temples and chedis.
• A visit to an elephant camp and ride. This excursion will take you to the Valley of Mae Sa to observe these animal amazing capacities. You will experience a ‘walk about’ riding on an elephant’s back.
• Handicraft workshops and boutiques: lacquer ware factories and Celadon pottery, cotton and silk and hand-woven fabrics, paper lanterns and umbrellas.
Lunch is included off the train. Return on board for an afternoon tea served in your cabin, while the train continues with the journey. For the aperitif or after dinner drink you could spend a moment in the Piano-Bar Car for an enjoyable moment.
Day 3 : Sawankhaloke
Breakfast will be served by your steward in your compartment before the train arrives at Sawankhaloke. Waiting coaches take you to Si Satchanalai, part of the northernmost citadel of the ancient Khmer empire. Explore the impressive 13th century Buddhist temple classed under UNESCO’s patrimony together with Wat Chang Lom or the elephant’s temple. Return to the train at Sila. Lunch wil be served before arriving in mid-afternoon at Lampang for a horse-drawn carriage ride to Baan Sao Nok 'the house of 116 pillars'. Tea is served as you tour the house which is built in traditional Lanna Thai style. Return to the train and dress for dinner on board and the last overnight journey.
Day 4 : Bangkok
After Breakfast the train arrives at Bangkok Hualampong Station ending this journey.
